Abstract

The great advances in medicine and health-related sciences are largely due to the use of experimental animals, which for decades have been the raw material for this type of practices. The above has been the cause of intense debates by pros and cons its management, with the aim of continuing to make progress in science. Various alternatives that have been proposed to avoid the use of animals, although they help to generate knowledge, could yield controversial and unreliable results. This leads to them having to be supported in living organisms. Therefore, the aim of this writing is to make known the pros and cons of the use of animals in biomedical research, thus contributing to the knowledge of this relevant topic that and controversial at the same time.
