Abstract

Breastfeeding goes beyond nourishment; it provides a living, dynamic defense system that transfers invaluable immunity from mother to baby. From the first drops of colostrum to mature milk, a host of bioactive components act to protect the newborn’s health, acting as a protective shield, building and strengthening the infant’s immature immune system and laying the foundation for good health throughout life.
