Abstract

Science communication has several nuances, two of the largest are those defined around public science communication. It is common for us to believe that we are doing public communication when in fact we perpetuate the same exercise we do with our academic colleagues. The differences lie in the audience to whom the message is directed and the way the speech is designed. While science communication in academia is a process of communicating science between peers, public science communication is directed towards an inexperienced public by avoiding the use of specialized terms and taking advantage of literary resources such as narrative. It is necessary to know the characteristics of science outreach to generate a product that has a social impact.
