There are groups of water “emerging” organic pollutants (EOCs) characterized by high persistence, low degradation in the environment and with great adverse effects on health and the environment, among them are detergents, hormones, pesticides, personal care products, illicit drugs and pharmaceuticals. Their identification and treatment are of growing interest since their presence has been found in posttreated wastewater, rivers, sea, groundwater and even in drinking water. These contaminants are not eliminated in conventional wastewater treatment plants, so it is imperative to develop efficient treatments that allow their removal from the aquatic environment and contribute to the solution of this environmental problem. This concern has made them turn to metalorganic frameworks structures (MOFs), which are materials that present attractive characteristics for the removal of EOCs due to their high adsorption capacity. porosity and surface area, so its research has expanded as selective adsorbents that include the elimination of dyes, agrochemicals, pharmaceutical products among others.
