This article reports on several workshops focused on raising awareness regarding migration from Mexico to the United States. The objective was to recognize the challenge of migrating, as one leaves behind a space and a community, and was based on the UN proposal in its Regional Migration Program. The design and implementation were carried out within the framework of the regional impact research project entitled “Identity and otherness in narratives about migration to the United States”, with the support of the ICTI of the State of Michoacán. Undergraduate and graduate students from the Universidad Michoacana, as well as various academics, collaborated in the activities. The workshops were aimed, most notably, at minors and young people from the municipalities of Morelia and some others located on the shores of Lake Patzcuaro, in what is known as the lake area; in this sense, they joined the Tianguis de la Ciencia, the Festival Michoacán de Origen and a transdisciplinary event at the Centro Regional de Investigación Acuícola y Pesquera, between the months of April and June 2024.
