The Mexican State and its pending task towards the Inter-American Court

The Inter-American Human Rights System, of which the Mexican State is a member, faces a number of challenges in implementing its judgments, given the existence of several contentious cases pending compliance. The reparations stipulated in the operative clauses aim for social transformation, and their absence does not translate into benefits for victims and society in general. Furthermore, the States' commitment to the Court is mandatory and cannot be suspended, as Inter-American jurisprudence is an extension of the Convention itself. To ensure this impact, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights exercises its power to supervise compliance through resolutions and hearings, essential mechanisms for assessing whether the State has remedied the violations.
